That’s what the police shout near the end of this video (viewed larger and clearer through link), presumably to ‘clear the way,’ in which NYPD officers intentionally try to intimidate cyclists during one of their rides. NYC is a city built for walking and would seem to be friendly to bike riders. Alas, my brief attempt to bike around the city was fraught with fear and stress — I gave up. Apparently, a few of those who are paid to “protect and serve” think you should give up saving gas and going about on your own two wheels. In fact, Sgt. Timothy Horohoe will help you out by knocking your ass down if you dare ride past him.
The worst happens to Joyce Lin about three fourths through the video, located at The Glass Bead Collective’s Blip.TV site. Give it a whirl — if you don’t think it can happen to you, you’ll be amazed at what happens to Joyce Lin.
