As I’ve commented before though, the screen won’t be a more equitable place for women 1) until our society accepts more unsympathetic, unattractive roles for women, and this filters through the system, through producers down to actresses accepting roles, 2) until someone finds a way to include women in tales of what are really depictions of male homosocial realms: war, gansterism/crime, business — are these really actually just depictions of most realities, given that most of the world is still, in day to day life, home and work and education, divided by gender?
